VALIDATION OF KPG INDEX “CLASSIFICATION METHOD TO PREDICT ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF IMPACTED CANINES”
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: To determine the position of impacted canine in 3 dimensions and estimate difficulty treatment using 3D “KPG index”, a new classification method.
Study Design: Cross sectional analytical study.
Place Duration Study: Orthodontic Department, Rehman College Dentistry, Peshawar, from Aug to Oct 2020.
Methodology: cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans 43 subjects with 47 canines were obtained. Using KPG index, 6 measurements taken for each tooth three planes. The scores later summed up. Based on cumulative scores, impaction was classified into categories Easy (0–7), Moderate (8–14), Difficult (15–19), Extremely (20+). Comparison Gender index also performed.
Results: Impacted found be left palatal side female predilection. Canines scored mostly moderate category. Highest percentage Sector II, followed by sector III IV. Comparing maxillary right sides (p=0.087), buccal or (p=0.545), males females (p=0.279), in-statistically significant difference found.
Conclusion: imaging has allowed us precisely locate sagittal, coronal axial Hence, dictated our anticipated treatment.

KPG Index versus OPG Measurements: A Comparison between 3D and 2D Methods in Predicting Treatment Duration and Difficulty Level for Patients with Impacted Maxillary Canines
AIM The aim of this study was to test the agreement between orthopantomography (OPG) based 2D measurements and the KPG index, a new index based on 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) images, in predicting orthodontic treatment duration and difficulty level of impacted maxillary canines. MATERIALS AND METHODS OPG and CBCT images of 105 impacted canines were independently scored by three or...

The aim of this study was to assess the severity of any underlying malocclusion in subjects presenting for treatment of a palatally impacted canine (PIC) using a modification of the Dental Health Component (DHC) of the Index of Treatment Need (MIOTN), which does not factor in the impacted canine. The pre-treatment study models of 54 subjects who had previously undergone surgical exposure of a P...

Impacted and transposed teeth cause serious difficulties in tooth eruption and movement as well as esthetic and functional outcomes. Proper treatment planning including good biomechanical control is essential in order to avoid side effects during traction and aligning of the impacted and/or transposed teeth. The purpose of the present study was to present a successfully treated female patient h...

One of the most important aspects to take into consideration when evaluating the outcome of treatment of impacted maxillary canines is the final periodontal status. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the long-term periodontal response of palatally impacted maxillary canines aligned using a codified procedure and the 'Easy Cuspid' compared with contralateral spontaneously erupted teeth...

The aim of this study was to produce a treatment difficulty index (TDI) for unerupted maxillary canines. Thirty treated cases, each with an unerupted unilateral maxillary canine, were graded by 14 consultant orthodontists in terms of perceived alignment difficulty, and the four main factors which had contributed to each grade were listed in order of importance. The relationship between the grad...
